The story

The house was very quiet. So very, very quiet. Dark outside the window. Lily was in her bed. She opened her eyes slowly. What a big yawn! Lily stretched her arms up. She wiggled her little toes. Lily got out of her bed. Her feet touched the floor. Tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe. Lily went to the window. She looked outside the window. Oh, the sun is up! The sun was yellow and bright. The sky was turning blue. The day is starting now. Lily thought of her Mom. Mom was still sleeping soundly. Lily wanted a surprise. A good surprise for Mom. What can Lily make now? Lily had a big idea. Yes, a happy picture! Lily likes to draw. She likes to make art. Lily went to the toy box. She found some paper there. She found some red crayons. And a blue crayon too. Lily sat on the floor. She held the red crayon. Scribble, scribble, scribble. The crayon made a red line. Scribble, scribble, scribble. A big, big red circle. Then she used the blue crayon. Scribble, scribble, scribble. A blue square next to it. Lily drew and drew. Her picture is so pretty. Lily is a good artist. The house was still quiet. But not so very quiet. A little cat stretched. Meow, meow, meow, said the cat. The cat went for a walk. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter. The cat walked past Lily. Lily giggled a little bit. She kept drawing her picture. Soon, the picture was done. It was a happy picture. Lily felt so happy! Lily held her picture up. She walked to Mom's room. Tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe. Lily opened Mom's door. Mom was in her bed. Mom was sleeping soundly. Lily stood by the bed. She held the picture up. She waited for Mom to wake. Mom opened her eyes slowly. She saw Lily standing there. Mom saw Lily's picture. "Oh, Lily!" said her Mom. "What a good surprise!" Mom gave Lily a big hug. Lily smiled a big smile. "I love this picture," Mom said. "You are a good artist." Lily felt very happy. Mom kissed Lily's soft hair. "Good morning, my sweet girl." The house was now awake. The house was full of love.
