Hello, my sweet friend. Come sit with me. We will hear a story. This is about a little owl. His name is Hootie. Hootie is a baby owl. He lives in a big tree. The tree has green leaves. The tree has brown bark. The sky is dark blue. All the birds are asleep. The little bugs are asleep. But Hootie is awake. Hootie cannot close his eyes. He wants to sleep. Hootie feels very sad. He wants to rest. Hootie looks at the sky. Hootie sees a yellow star. The star is very bright. The star shines soft light. But Hootie is still awake. He cannot fall asleep. Hootie looks at his tree. Hootie sees a green leaf. "This leaf is green," says Hootie. The leaf moves in the wind. It goes flutter, flutter, flutter. But Hootie is still awake. He cannot fall asleep. Hootie looks at the grass. Hootie sees a blue flower. The flower is very pretty. The flower is asleep too. But Hootie is still awake. He cannot fall asleep. Hootie looks at the ground. Hootie sees a grey rock. The rock is very still. The rock does not move. But Hootie is still awake. He cannot fall asleep. A big bear walks by. The bear is very big. The bear is very soft. Bear looks up at Hootie. "Hello, little owl," says Bear. Hootie looks at the bear. Hootie sees a big bear. "I cannot sleep," says Hootie. "I feel sad," says Hootie. Bear smiles a warm smile. "I can help you," says Bear. Bear sits under the tree. "We can blow like wind," says Bear. Can you blow like wind? Blow very soft and slow. Hootie blows like the wind. He goes, shsh, shsh, shsh. Bear goes, shsh, shsh, shsh. The wind is very soft. Hootie feels a little sleepy. But he is still awake. "We can pat our tummy," says Bear. Can you pat your tummy? Pat it very soft. Pat, pat, pat, pat. Hootie pats his soft tummy. Bear pats his big tummy. They go pat, pat, pat. The sound is very quiet. Hootie feels more sleepy. His eyes are getting heavy. But he is still awake. "We can close our eyes," says Bear. Can you close your eyes? Keep them closed very tight. Bear closes his big eyes. Hootie closes his small eyes. It is very dark. It is very quiet. Bear breathes in slow. Bear breathes out slow. Hootie breathes in slow. Hootie breathes out slow. The air is cool. The nest is warm. Bear starts to fall asleep. Bear goes, snore, snore, snore. Bear is very sleepy. Hootie is very sleepy too. Hootie feels very happy. He is not sad. He feels very safe. His eyes stay closed. He rests his soft head. He tucks in his wings. Hootie is fast asleep. Bear is fast asleep. The forest is very quiet. Goodnight, sweet Hootie. Goodnight, kind Bear. Goodnight, my little friend. Sleep tight, sleep tight.
